St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
St. Patrick’s Day is just a couple of weeks away, which means it is the perfect time to start planning for your holiday festivities. Make sure to mark your calendar for these exciting local events in the community that the whole family can enjoy together.
Head out to the Ventura Elks Lodge on March 14th for the 27th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ventura. The parade stats on East Main Street in front of the San Buenaventura Mission at 10 a.m. and heads up East Main Street and will end on the corner of East Main Street and North Chestnut. Almost 100 entrants will be marching with the parade.
The St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center is also happening on March 14th. From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., bring the whole family out for a day full of food, entertainment, and activities. The free event is feature The Tribal Caravan Belly Dancing Performances, The Claddagh School of Irish Dancers, and live Irish music performed by Innisfree. There will also be plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, including rock climbing, face painting, and many different inflatables.
St. Patrick’s Day has been officially celebrated since the 17th century as a way to honor St. Patrick, who was a patron of Ireland. Although St. Patrick was not Irish, he returned to the country after escaping the country from slavery to help spread the Christian religion. He is not credited with bringing the Christian religion to Ireland.
While St. Patrick’s Day is only celebrated on the 17th in America, the holiday is celebrated from March 15th through the 19th at the St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Dublin, which is the capital of Ireland. During the Festival, there is a carnival, parade, dances, and a treasure hunt.
